The professional exemption applies to white-collar employees who (1) are licensed by the State of California in a recognized discipline such as (law, medicine, dentistry, optometry, architecture, engineering, teaching, or accounting) or are primarily engaged in a commonly recognized learned or artistic profession, (2) regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment, and (3) are paid a salary by their employer equivalent to at least two times the minimum wage for full-time employment. |
